Why Authors Should Blog, and more…
Almost daily, I learn the details about social media from blog posts by other leaders. Today, I’d like to share with you straight from SiteSketch101.com a very valuable reason for you as an author to blog and what your posts should include.
———— These are direct quotes from SiteSketch101.com ———-
“If you are a book author, writing a blog can introduce people to your writing. This is a way for people to decide if they like what you write before they purchase your books.” PHYLLIS ZIMBLER MILLER
Each Blog Post should include the following elements:
- Short paragraphs
- Subtitles where appropriate
- Bullets where appropriate
- Dark text on light background
- Length appropriate to the topic of the post
- Email notification and RSS feed options for blog readers
- Print button
- Share button (to share posts on Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and to email the post to others
- Search function so new readers can find older posts on specific subjects

Connecting with future readers is key in sharing what you’ve written and published. If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it…did it make a sound? You poured your heart and energy into a book, but how in a sea of books on Amazon.com and at the local bookstore, will people know to choose your book? Blogging is a significant tool to set you and your message apart.
Encouragement for continuing your work for the Kingdom of God:
Does it sound like we’re patting ourselves on the back, insisting on our credentials, asserting our authority? Well, we’re not. Neither do we need letters of endorsement, either to you or from you. You yourselves are all the endorsement we need. Your very lives are a letter that anyone can read by just looking at you. Christ himself wrote it—not with ink, but with God’s living Spirit; not chiseled into stone, but carved into human lives—and we publish it. 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 MSG
